Youth Program Registration Requirements:

  • $50 registration fee -- applied to the program cost below and scholarships are available.

  • A completed “Participant Release and Indemnification Consent, Medical Release, Liability and Photo Release” form prior to the start of the program,  CLICK HERE to download form.

  • Please review our Social Distancing & Other Safety Protocols During Covid-19 before attending or starting a program.

Youth Program Costs:

2-week Boat Building -OR- Boating, Building & Ecology Programs -- $500/per participant

1-week Boating Skills & Marine Ecology Program -- $250/per participant

The Registration Fee of $50 will be applied to the program cost.  The balance is due on or before the first day of the program:

CHECKS should be made out to Chicago Maritime Arts Center and mailed to 1848 W. Waveland Ave., Unit 3W, Chicago, Illinois 60613.  Please note the participant’s name, age, program dates and location.

Alternatively, after the $50 Registration Fee is paid participants may request a partial-scholarship prior to the start of the program for the balance of the program cost.  If the $50 Registration Fee is also a burden please submit an essay and request a full-scholarship as we want to make these programs available to everyone.

To request a scholarship the participant must submit a short essay requesting financial assistance and explaining why they would like to take the program.  Essays can be sent to Patrick@ChicagoMaritime.org or mailed to the address above.  Please note the participant’s name, age, program dates and location.

A two-week Boating, Building & Ecology program at SSYC where each participant (11-15 year olds) will have his/her own work station and tools throughout the program to do individual project and tool skills in the morning. Afternoons will be boating skills, safety & marine ecology (no swimming).

Classes start July 20th - Aug. 1st - (Mon. - Fri.) for two weeks (Lunches are provided). Participants learn tool skills, build individual projects from their own work space along with safe distancing with group leaning. On Sat. Aug. 1 from 9:30-Noon Boat Launch Day for an on-the-water experience.

The one-week program, with the support of Southern Shore Yacht Club, will work with teens ages 11-15 years-old and learn boating safety, rowing, kayaking, the importance of protecting our Chicago rivers and Lake Michigan, water testing, and a sail on Lake Michigan (weather permitting).
