On Saturday, December 2, we delivered 140 live trees off the Coast Guard Cutter MACKINAW docked at Navy Pier. Trees were delivered to families in Pilsen and South Shore in collaboration with St. Paul's Catholic Church in Pilsen, and the Lost Boyz on 71st Street in South Shore. The event commemorates the 100+-year-old tradition of wooden ships (and iron men) delivering trees from Northern Wisconsin and Michigan to our fair city through the extremely dangerous sailing conditions in November and early December.  In addition to the Captain, our crew
included Captain August Etsch and Timmy and Angie Carter. Thanks to the fine people at the Chicago Yacht Club and the Ada McKinley Foundation for making a festive Christmas possible for 1200 families in Chicago.  Â
